Compliance and Regulatory

MIS 3002

The Microgeneration Installation Standard governing the design, installation, and commissioning of solar PV systems in the UK, including structural adequacy requirements for rooftop and ground-mount installations.

MIS 3002 is the primary compliance standard for solar PV systems installed under the MCS certification scheme. Version 6.0, applicable from 18 June 2026, introduces updated requirements under Section 5.9 for structural assessments. For commercial rooftop installations, Section 5.9.6 mandates a tiered structural assessment process: desktop assessment first, with on-site structural survey required where desktop assessment cannot confirm adequacy.

MCS-certified installers are required to document structural compliance in accordance with MIS 3002 V6.0 for all new installations. Structural reports from Solar Surveys are issued by chartered engineers and reference the relevant MIS 3002 V6.0 clauses explicitly, ensuring they satisfy the documentation requirements for MCS certification body audit and lender due diligence.
