Desktop Structural Roof Loading Report

A remote structural engineering assessment of a commercial roof's ability to carry a proposed solar PV array, based on existing structural drawings and site data, delivered within a 48-hour benchmark.

A Desktop Structural Roof Loading Report is the first-stage structural assessment under MIS 3002 V6.0 for commercial solar PV installations. Structural engineers review the roof's existing structural drawings, purlin and rafter specifications, and proposed array layout to calculate utilisation under combined Eurocode load combinations. The report delivers a pass, conditional pass, or further investigation verdict.

Desktop reports are appropriate where structural drawings or manufacturer specifications are available and the construction type is conventional. They avoid the cost and mobilisation time of an on-site survey for the majority of commercial portal frame buildings. Where drawings are unavailable or the report cannot confirm structural adequacy, an on-site structural survey is commissioned under the MIS 3002 V6.0 Section 5.9.6 tiered process.
