Photogrammetry

The science of making measurements and 3D models from photographs, used in drone surveys to produce accurate orthomosaic maps, elevation models, and dimensional data from aerial imagery.

Photogrammetry processes overlapping aerial photographs to reconstruct three-dimensional geometry of the surveyed area. In commercial drone surveys, photogrammetry enables the creation of orthomosaic roof plans, digital surface models, and precise dimensional measurements without requiring ground-based access. For solar PV, photogrammetric outputs include accurate roof area measurements and obstruction mapping for shading analysis.

Solar Surveys drone surveys apply photogrammetric techniques where required for complex roof geometry, large site area mapping, or where accurate as-built measurements are needed. Standard drone roof condition assessments are delivered as high-resolution annotated image reports without requiring full photogrammetric processing.
