EPC Rating

Energy Performance Certificate rating assessing a building's energy efficiency on a scale from A (most efficient) to G (least efficient), required for most commercial property transactions and lettings.

Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) rate the energy efficiency of a building on an A to G scale. For commercial properties, EPCs are required for new build, sale, and letting. Solar PV installations can improve a building's EPC rating by reducing the building's notional energy demand. Under Minimum Energy Efficiency Standards (MEES), commercial landlords must achieve at least an EPC E rating to let a property.

For housing developers, EPC ratings are directly linked to planning requirements and Part L Building Regulations compliance. Solar PV arrays are increasingly used as a cost-effective mechanism to achieve target EPC ratings in new residential developments. Solar Surveys provides structural and survey services for housing developer solar PV programmes, supporting Part L compliance at scale.
